City of Rancho Cordova: Asteria Flats Affordable Housing Project
On behalf of the City of Rancho Cordova, we are sharing the following update for community awareness. Please note: this is a City-led project, and the Association is only distributing this information as a courtesy. All questions should be directed to the contacts listed on the City’s flyer.
A new residential project, Asteria Flats, has been submitted for construction on a vacant 11.76-acre parcel located south of Chrysanthy Boulevard and east of Sunrise Boulevard, adjacent to the Anatolia neighborhood.
The proposal includes an affordable apartment community consisting of 236 apartment homes across ten (10) three-story buildings.
This project is being processed under the Multifamily Streamlined Design Review Permit, a state-mandated approval pathway established by State Senate Bill 35 (SB 35).
Because Asteria Flats qualifies under this process, it follows a streamlined review procedure that does not include City Council review or public hearings. Key provisions of SB 35 include:
No public hearing will be held
There is no appeals process available
Projects must meet objective design and zoning standards only
This law is intended to expedite the approval of certain affordable housing developments and limits local discretion in the review process.
Again, all questions or concerns should be directed to the contacts provided:
